We bring our family tradition of European-style fine woodworking and commitment to one-on-one customer service to each and every custom woodwork project.
How It All Began
The story of Westwood Cabinets & Store Fixtures really begins across the Atlantic when Louis Detar learned the woodworking trade in Eastern Europe. He brought his skill to the New World and entered the fine woodworking trade in Los Angeles where he worked with designers to create custom furniture.
Detar moved to Albuquerque in 1984 and opened Westwood Cabinets & Store Fixtures in 1986. What started as purely a woodworking shop has grown into a shop where we create a variety of custom cabinets, display cases, light fixtures and more from materials including hardwoods, exotic woods, acrylics, plastics and metals. We have three experienced craftsmen—including Louis and his son Clayton—who design and create each piece from your specifications and our imaginations.

We are a licensed, bonded and insured New Mexico contractor. In addition to creating custom showcases and cabinets, we also provide professional installation, repair and restoration.
